a little catch up.....(tree farm, decorating the tree)

WHEW! THis holiday season FLEW by, mostly due to us both working retail jobs, and not always having the same day off - but we managed to do some fun FEStive things here and there! We went to this DARLIng local tree farm, started by a mother & wife with a dream to have just that! The family was soo sweet and reminded me of my Aunt and Uncles farm in bellingham "the Kruger tree farm". The tree was different from all trees we've had yet...small, flawed, short and a little week - but we feel in love with it :) SOO fun thing guys, we were able to use our childhood and married ornaments that we have not seen since 2008! Chris also put out the train - but it didn't survive the cats...he tried several times and then gave up. We are still lacking a tree topper and skirt but we will have those next year. I love the holiday season...it means crafts, layering, hot drinks and christmas lights. LOVE it.

it's that wonderful time of year...(christmas letter... update :)

chris and i are not sending christmas cards this year...most follow our facebook photos and or read my blog or follow up with the parentals as to how we're doing......but in case you don't, i'm going to write a little life update of sorts, espically since MUCH has happened in the past few months.

well - chris, tigger, patrick (kitties..) and i reside in a modern restored apartment complex rested on a hill in point loma overlooking the city. it's not much but it's a cozy fit for the four of us. we just recently got stools for our island so we can have a christmas dinner at the "table". it's close enough to the public transportaion allowing me to take the bus and trolley to work, so chris can have the car to drive to la jolla. he was just promoted to the la jolla village sunglass hut store  (no longer in a macys, thank goodness) they are trying to find the best fit for him so it's not necessarly "his" store. he is just recieving the same pay as manager and hours and will be there until he is placed. it's located in this touristy darling area of san diego just on the other side of the ocean, just like his maui store. he is much happier and feels as though things are headed in the right direction. he just got a gym membership and a trainer, he is loving this. it's a great debrief for him when he gets off work. he is healthier and happier than i have seen in a while. i am LOVing my job. i still work at Anthropologie and am just so happy to go into work every day. the girls are lovely and down to earth, the company does some fantastice things to help the earth and give back to the community and i just love their products :) i am still trying to make something of my photography. i have big plans for 2012. i am assuming come january i won't be working as much as i have this holiday season. whew! busy bee :) this december i was able to fly to washington for a few days to be with my family. the six of us, together again, lovelove. it was incredible. i wasn't able to see friends but i just enjoyed soaking up my families time as well as smothering them with kisses :) it was a few days filled with old school traditions; putting out the nativity everyone taking a turn and placing them in the manger, decorating the tree, watching white christmas, setting up the village on the mantle, liars dice etc..total bliss.

peter is about to graduate this spring - so sooo soon to be a doctor in occupational therepy, WHAAAHOOOO! he was able to work on all of us as we were together, man he knows what he's doing. i am so proud.

caleb is now divorced and just starting his new life fresh, looking forward, still on the search for love. i am so proud of everything he has become through all this. i just loved being with him this past week. the holidays are hard. being without her, doing all the "traditions" without her (the good her) by his side....ugh. i can't, again, wait for 2012.

michael is just SUCH a talented tattoo artist, still pressing on in his apprenticeship. i got to see him do a tattoo when i was home - and he just had such a steady hand. he's calm, collected, professional and SOO creative. he tattooed his interpretaion of his clients drawing. soo neat to see what he does on a daily basis. if you are reading this and live in bellingham, wa - he is the guy to go to! right now an affordable price and in my opionion a pro already.

now to the in-laws!!

dad and mom are still living in colorado, although they just recently moved to a one bedroom apartment 5 minutes from dads work! they are happy and love where they live. they are actually driving and flying tyler to san diego this january! we have not seen them in over 2 years!! so we are very excited, i just can't wait - they are also taking us all to disneyland for two days, what a surprise, we are SOO blessed!

tyler just a few weeks ago asked jesus into his heart and got baptized. we are SO proud of him. he has been in such a rough place, and soo happy that he came to the realization that he cannot do it alone. the changes i saw in him this december were all for the better. soo amazing. he's working at a recycling place in bellingham and living with this great group of guys in a little house in town. he also just asked out this (according to my mama...) wonderful girl Jenn to be his girl, so cute. they are now a couple, i look forward to meeting her!

well - chris and i had a fabulous christmas - although it was much too short and we were exhausted from our lonnnng work days, it was still just wonderful. Ah. we spent christmas eve in the living room on our mattress sleeping "under the tree", falling asleep to "The Holiday". when we woke, we did stockings and then i made a deliciously healthy breakfast of eggs, bacon, rye bread and oj. then to the presents, AH we are soo blessed! this was a very blessed christmas. the best gift of the day was a trip to Maui with my husband :) i just can't believe it. a few days in january staying at our dearest friend ileta's home!! i was crying, completely overwhelmed with joy. we woke suuuper early so we took a nap and then i prepared a turkey dinner! the entire day we just lazed and watched numerous christmas movies. it was fantastic!

the new year found us with a few movies and a bottle of champagne at home, relaxing and together. we have explored three parts of SD (new to us) so far inbetween our work days. lot's of hiking, walking, sight-seeing and picture taking. my birthday was a hit! picnic at the bay, ferry to coronado, biking around coronado and cheesecake factory for dessert! what a wonderful start to 2012.

we do wish you all a belated merry christmas and a happy new year! much love from our home to yours!
